Three top things to do in August
Tonight: The Fatback Band at Canvas
A few tickets remain for tonight’s live music gig at Canvas.
Legendary funksters, The Fatback Band, have a new line up but are still fronted by the amazing, ageless Bill Curtis. Tickets are on sale at buytickets.at or pay more on the door.
The seven-piece act are the perfect fit for Canvas’s live lounge, which previously played host to The Fatback Band soon after they opened, almost two-and-a-half years ago. Time flies when you’re playing funk, right?
Tomorrow: Burned Out Festival at The Anvil Bar
It’s only the second year of this rock fiesta but it’s a welcome addition to the Lansdowne-side music time and perfect for the students who have remained in halls for the summer break.
There will be a whopping 11 acts in total, helping to raise money for the incredible Teddy20.
Headliners Dream State will be supported by Canvas, Cove and more. See Facebook for the full line-up.
Bank Holiday Weekend: Hot Radio’s Dance Anthems presents Graham Gold
Canvas have got another great booking this month, teaming up with the boys at HOT Radio to bring Graham Gold to Bournemouth.
A Slinky regular, Gold specialises in funky house and certified floor-fillers. He will be ably supported by Jon Langford, previously from The Manor – another Bournemouth underground institution.
Make the night special by booking a cocktail booth for £220, including a drinks package worth around £160, for eight party people.
Tickets from £6 at www.tickettailor.com.
