Review: Fatback Band at Canvas

Canvas continues on it’s mission to offer the best live music in town – on Sunday, a sell-out crowd enjoyed the soul/funk/disco legends, the Fatback Band.

They’ve been stellar since the 1970s and still tour with two of the original members from the start. Remember “I Found Lovin”? You haven’t heard it properly until you’ve heard it live.

Can we help preview, review, photograph your live event? All-in-one PR saves you money! Email news@bournemouthnews.info to book the best creatives in Dorset. We work with Charlie Raven Photography and Team Gemini to get your event noticed; as well as a a piece on our website that reaches 44,000+, we will also arrange pre-event promo with other local websites, including Bournemouth Rock, Bournemouth Buzz, Do More Magazine and Let’s Go Out in Bournemouth & Poole.

The Fatback Band are also hailed as hip hop pioneers and, with a nationwide tour and a ‘Remixed’ album to buy on Amazon, they are as relevant today as they ever were. The mix of orchestral beats with soul and funk is timeless.

Once again, Canvas proved to be the perfect venue for live music, with a great stage set up and ample room for dancing.

Groovemeister were the perfect warm-up act to get the crowd in the mood for the main event.

The Fatback Band are most known for their R&B hits: “Spanish Hustle”, “I Like Girls”, “Gotta Get My Hands on Some”, “Backstrokin’” and “I Found Lovin”. Their 1979 single “King Tim III” is hailed as one of the first hip hop singles ever. Ironically that was the year that I was born. Hmmmmmm.
