After a sell-out date last March, Canvas is delighted to welcome back the ultra-talented Mica Paris on January 27. Let’s kick off 2017 in style!

Mica Paris is an enduring talent who has worked with fellow legends such as Prince, Jools Holland, James Morrison – even Natalie Cole and Dionne Warwick! She is perhaps best known for her hit My One Temptation from her platinum-selling debut album So Good. Can you believe that was more than 30 years ago?

As well as My One Temptation, two more hits came from the album – Like Dreamers Do and Breathe Life Into Me. What’s more, Mica broke that all-important American market and is recognised the world over today.

More worldwide hit albums and singles followed, including Black Angel, Stay and the gloriously melodic Carefree.

She may be the queen of British soul but she has not forgotten her gospel roots. In 2002 she presented TV documentary The Gospel Of Gospel, educating people about the influence of gospel on some of soul’s biggest tracks.

She’s also worked in theatre and is still very active in the studio, too. Album number eight is well underway, and she is also kept busy by her work for the Amy Winehouse foundation.

Radio was her next challenge and, as usual, she smashed it. Soul Solutions for BBC Radio 2 received an average of a million listeners, and thus it became the most successful soul and R&B show in the UK.

And TV proved no problem either. Her stint presenting What Not To Wear was well received by viewers, who loved her warm yet no-nonsense attitude. What’s more, the show inspired her to write a book about body issues and self-esteem. Her book Beautiful Within: Finding Happiness and Confidence in Your Own Skin was released in 2008.

So from hit records, to sell-out West end shows, to radio, TV and books, Mica is truly an all-rounder. But at Canvas, it’s all about the music so be sure to snap up your tickets now for this truly unique show by a truly unique artist.
