Showcasing local jazz alongside well-known names, the newly released programme details live performances in retail outlets, shopping arcades, hotels, bars, restaurants, clubs and pubs as well as in public areas, with musicians also playing from the Festival’s unique Jazzmobile each day during festival week.

For the second year running, Canvas, on Poole Hill, will host big names in it’s live lounge, notably Inconigto on June 14 and DJ Jazzy B on June 16.

Festival director Gerry Clarke said: “Canvas used to be the old Bournemouth Arts Institute and that’s the inspiration for its name. The original exposed brick work gives the venue a rustic and stylish décor, decorated with antlers and stuffed birds and animals with bicycles hanging from the ceiling and a large collection of  wine bottles, it is one of our most quirky jazz venues in town.

“It has a unique character and we are delighted it is part of the Jazz by the Sea Festival again this year.”
