A mouth-watering preview of WestBeach’s new menu
This Spring/Summer in Bournemouth, think beachside dining, think WestBeach. The fabulous restaurant on Pier Approach has been winning rave reviews for years now – but they’ve really upped their game with their inventive offerings for 2016.
First, the venue. One reviewer said they thought they had ‘just walked into a film set on Santa Monica Beach’. Certainly, many locals may not realise how close WestBeach is to the town centre but also how secluded it is. You dine overlooking swaying palm trees and the crashing ocean; seafood is a speciality, of course, but carnivores will love the salty pork belly adorning the scallops, the Spring lamb or perhaps pork cheeks to start. Vegetarians can dig into goat’s cheese or a super-fresh Spring vegetable risotto.
Kids are well accommodated too, with sausage, battered cod, chicken nuggets, pasta or, of course, fish fingers.
WestBeach breakfasts are also legendary – coupled with a walk on the beach, it will blow away the fiercest hangover. The ‘Classic’ includes two free range eggs, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, grilled vine tomato, baked beans and granary toast. Or, for a special occasion, you may like Eggs Benedicts, Royal or Florentine. Omelettes and scrambled eggs are also made with free range produce, of course.
Live music Thursdays take place once a month – the next one is May 19 and we will report back afterwards.
