By Joseph O’Brien
Bournemouth is the place to be on your stag and you and the lads will definitely have a great time with the friendly locals and other stag and hen revellers. With so much to see and do, Bournemouth is a brilliant party town where pristine sandy beaches meet top pubs and clubs. We’ve put together a list of 12 stag experiences you won’t want to miss out on: tick them all off during your ultimate Bournemouth stag weekend.
1. Bournemouth (Baywatch) Beach
We couldn’t write this list without including the beach! Beautiful, sandy and jam-packed with fun things to do, Bournemouth Beach is the place to be on your stag weekend. There’s something about beaches that just bring out the inner children in us all, so enjoy messing around in the sand and letting off steam with your mates. And you never know, you might just bump into Bournemouth’s answer to Baywatch…
2. Adventure out to The Watersports Academy
Poole Harbour is a great place to have a go at some exciting water sports like kitesurfing, windsurfing, water-skiing, powerboating or kayaking. The perfect way to while away those sunny hours, get everyone involved and explore your wet and wild sides.
3. Fish & Chips Chez Fred
Fish and chips go with seaside towns like…fish go with chips. A seaside classic, and for good reason too: after a few beers there’s nothing like some good old cod and chips to make you feel like a new man. Or you could have a nostalgic lunch on the beach, picking at chips from a newspaper (before the seagulls get there). Chez Fred is a legendary fish and chips shop in Bournemouth, friendly and guaranteed to serve you up a healthy portion- you’d be a fool to miss out.
4. Shot for Something at Sharkey’s Pool & Sports Bar
Sharkey’s is popular with the locals thanks to its cheap drinks, pool tables and no-nonsense sports bar attitude. Charging by the hour, not the game, you can get plenty of great pool in at Sharkey’s! Also showing all major sporting events, Sharkey’s is the perfect place to come and relax and spend a great afternoon or evening. Especially great if it’s tipping it down outside: Sharkey’s will give you shelter.
5. Bluesy Pints at The Four Horsemen
This pub is renowned for its broad selection of beers, and it is a great place to start the night, kicking back a few pints with your mates. The pub has plenty of drinks deals and a nice atmosphere thanks to its central location, so sit back and enjoy the people-watching. The Four Horsemen also put a lot of effort into their music and are known to play good quality blues and soul- they even have a B.B King blues guitar framed on the wall!
6. Bournemouth Pier and zip lining with Pier Zip
A classic seaside town just wouldn’t bet the same without its pier, and Bournemouth has been a proud owner of one since 1880. Getting an ice-cream or playing arcade games on the pier is undeniably fun…and it’s also the perfect place to play any stag pranks. Bournemouth’s PierZip is the world’s first pier to shore zip-wire experience, so get yourself a bit of zip lining action whilst you’re there.
7. Escape to Brownsea Island
Brownsea Island is a little haven located in Poole Harbour, and you can get there easily with the local ferry. A beautiful wooded island, Brownsea is a great little place to go for a relaxed day trip. If it’s warm, why not try swimming around the island, or bring some beers and a picnic to soak up the island sun? This is for when you want to get away from it all and answer the call to the wild.
8. Dance the Night Away at Cameo Nightclub
Cameo is Bournemouth’s biggest nightclub, and you are guaranteed to have a great night out here. They attract quite a few big dance artists and their cocktails and shots are guaranteed to get the party started. With VIP entry and booths, Cameo is Bournemouth’s premier nightclub venue and they’re very stag and hen do friendly!
9. Gamble at Genting Casino

A cosy and friendly casino, with great food, drinks and staff, Genting is a great place to come on your stag do.
10. Cocktails at Smokin’ Aces
Next on the list for the stylish gentlemen stags is the Smokin Aces bar, where you can sample a whole host of interesting drinks and whiskies. This is a really unique venue and perfect when you want to get away from the usual dreary bars and drink somewhere a bit more interesting. Friendly and unique, Smokin’ Aces is not one to miss.
11. Wiggle Wiggle at Wiggle
Friendly (fit) ladies, great staff and good drinks – what more could you ask from a gentlemen’s club? Whether you are just going for the banter, or looking for a special private dance, Wiggle is the place where dreams come true. (Well, sort of).
