Scruff the Plastics Dragon

unnamedDid you know that one of the rubbish patches in the Pacific is now double the size of France? That’s one of the alarming facts being discussed this afternoon at an event to raise awareness of the issue of plastic dumped in the sea.
Held in Ringwood, it’s a fun family day, from 2pm, including the manufacture of a huge Scruff the Plastic Dragon to represent the plastics in the ocean.
There will also be real-life tales from the sea from a sailor who has crossed the Pacific, Surfers Against Sewage offering solutions, representation from oceanographers and marine biologists,  music and more.
The event is run by Spanish students with support from Greyfriars.
