Review: New menu at Aruba

As you enter Aruba, you are immediately struck by its classy take on beach traditions; with a beautifully decorated ceiling and tables overlooking the infamous Bournemouth pier, this place really sets the scene for a wonderful evening.

Vegetarian sharing plate to start

Having perused the cocktail menu, which boasts an amazing selection of drinks, I opted for a classic Pinã Colada, a personal favourite.

Their drinks were executed and garnished perfectly, with traditional options such as mojitos and martinis as well as new creations such as a Jaffa Cake martini, which was garnished with an entire Jaffa Cake!

Their new menu is wonderfully diverse, from gorgeous pizzas, to brilliant burger deals and even macaroni cheese – there is definitely something for everyone. Using incredibly fresh ingredients and cooking with love is what makes Aruba special; all of the food I saw coming from the kitchen looked to die for!

I opted for the reasonably priced vegetarian sharing plate (I was swung by the mozzarella sticks), which was beautifully presented and included bread, hummus, pitta, nachos, olives and even some tempura vegetables and dips – all of which were fresh and beautifully seasoned: even meat eaters would love this.

As we watched people whip down the terrifying zip line from Rock Reef, our Texican burger and sweet potato fries arrived. A beautifully cooked beef patty was presented; smothered in home made chilli con carne, topped with cheese and bacon and the best Southwest sauce I’ve ever eaten – it was glorious.

Stunning Texican burger with sweet potato fries

With the sweet potato fries masterfully cooked, too, fluffy on the inside and just the right amount of crunch on the outside, this was a perfect meal.

The sun was shining on a glorious day in Bournemouth and admiring the view from our window seat was absolutely beautiful and really concreted the meal as one of the best I’ve had in Bournemouth

Thankfully, as Aruba is brilliantly situated – easy to access by bus as it’s just a five-minute walk from the Square; it meant that travel was a breeze.

Aruba also has a number of 2-4-1 cocktail, pizza and burgers offers for students to enjoy, meaning you can enjoy gorgeous food and exciting cocktails with a friend for very little money!

Next time I go to Aruba, I will definitely try the Return of the Mac burger… a macaroni and cheese burger with BBQ pulled pork? Yes please!
