Review: Be At One

Drinking on a school night is never a good idea. That is unless you’re invited to the opening of a brand new cocktail bar – then the rules change entirely. My wife and I were lucky enough to get an invite to the exclusive opening of Bournemouth’s newest drinking establishment, Be At One.

Be At One is a chain of cocktail bars that was founded by a trio of bartenders in London. I’d not visited one of their bars before, so I was excited to see what was on offer. Situated on Richmond Hill, in the space formerly occupied by Lola Lo, Be At One joins a number of London based brands that are flocking to the area.

FullSizeRenderOn arrival, we were immediately impressed with the stylish interior – neon lights, comfy leather booths and a well stocked bar provided a welcome escape after a long day at the office. Next, the menu – and we were certainly spoilt for choice. With cocktails grouped by spirits (with a handy little symbol to show what glass they come in) it’s easy to navigate to something that will wet your appetite. I started with a whiskey-based drink and my wife went for rum. The bartender didn’t flinch when we ordered, he just got straight on with both drinks and presented them minutes later – voila! And they were delicious.

As the evening went on, we worked are way through the menu trying as many cocktails as are empty stomachs could handle. The music was great, the vibe was fun and the staff were awesome – we literally had to drag ourselves away. And any night that ends with dancing in the square to live performers with random strangers, is a good one in my book.

So next time I fancy a porn star or a friend needs a painkiller, we’ll be off to Be At One, Bournemouth. You should definitely go and check it out!
