Recommended: The Fatback Band at Canvas

Playing five decades of hits, The Fatback Band return to Canvas tomorrow (Friday) after a two-and-a-half year absence.

While the line-up has changed slightly, they are still fronted by the legendary Bill Curtis. Silky smooth male and female vocals will accompany their finest funk and disco hits, including Do The Bus Stop and Double Dutch. Do you remember the dance moves?

The set list moves seamlessly from the late 1970s right up to today. Eighties’ classic  I Found Lovin’ is bound to feature, as well as I Like Girls and Spanish Hustle.

Their 1979 single King Tim III is sometimes considered the first hip hop single so expect a musical journey through time, from disco to hip hop to electronic funk and dance.

And expect three generations of fans on the night: The Fatback Band continue to impress all ages to this day and have a healthy following on Spotify.

Canvas, on Poole Hill, is an excellent live music venue with a classy crowd. Make a night of it by booking a booth in the Live Lounge – call 01202 556113.
