Recommended: Salsa at Canvas

Salsa Explosion is back at Canvas for the summer, with new times, new moves and new opportunities to take to the floor and impress your friends.

Enrique Perez Valdes from Cuba leads the authentic classes each Thursday, with sessions tailored to an individuals ability. At 8pm, absolute beginners can learn the basics; at 9pm, improvers will learn some hot new moves; and from 10.30pm til 1am there is a Salsa Social (Practica) with DJ Enrique.

Enrique was part of a team voted the UK’s Most Popular Salsa Promoters at the Cuban Salsa Dance Awards 2006 and Salsa UK Lifetime Achievement Award Winners 2007.

He said: “I have 23 years’ experience of teaching and promoting and I can’t wait to teach at Canvas, which is a stunning venue.

“Salsa dancing is a unique form of exercise because it provides the heart-healthy benefits of an aerobic exercise while also allowing you to engage in a social activity.

“Being a social sport, it also has benefits for mental as well as physical health. It combats depression, isolation; it boosts memory as much as flexibility! Give it a try for a top-to-toe body and mind makeover.”
