Why has Motown music stood the test of time so well? Certainly, sexy soul vibes are as popular now as they were in the swinging Sixties, Seventies and beyond. Live motown lifts your mood, making it perfect for the weekend.

So we are especially excited about Friday (March 16), when Wonderband take to the stage at Bournemouth’s only loft bar, Canvas. The funky nine-piece are one of the UK’s most in-demand, authentic motown acts, covering all your favourites from The Jackson 5, Chic, The Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire and many more.

Vocalists Ivan J Dellimore, CJ Edwards and Kimberley Kirby are a talented trio with a real passion for all things classic – expect dancefloor fillers from start to finish. They are famed for their authentic Wonder covers and their musicality and passion for all things motown.

They’ve been in demand across the country since they formed for a charity event in 2013. They performed at Bournemouth’s Air Festival last summer and you may well recognised CJ Edwards from his stint on The Voice. Watch the video of his stunning battle performance here.

People must have a lot to celebrate as all the party booths are sold out. A few tickets remain at £18 each.

DJ Jay Rachet hosts and comperes before the show, and then invites you to stay on after the band have finished for his Motown afterparty. Carriages are at midnight – and there is a taxi rank right in front of Canvas’s iconic red door, so you can get home easily. See you on the dancefloor!
