Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning: find your local gathering

Macmillan Cancer Support has once again teamed up with M&S to support fundraising coffee mornings across the UK – and there are plenty in Dorset to choose from.

Macmillan Fundraising Manager for Dorset, Chrissie Wathen-Neal said; “Last year, 8,938 coffee mornings were held across the South West region, raising £1,956,209 for people affected by cancer. That would be more than enough to run the welfare rights element of our phone service for one year. In this time, they could, on average, deal with 41,414 cases and help secure around £55m in unclaimed benefits for people affected by cancer.

“This year, the cumulative total raised by Coffee Morning hosts and supporters since it began will pass the £200 million mark, which is a staggering amount! It just goes to show that every slice of cake and cup of coffee can add up to make a real difference. We are really proud of the contribution which people in Dorset have made and we hope we can count on their support again this year.”

Fact file

This is the eighth year that M&S has been official partner of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, where supporters nationwide are encouraged to host or attend a coffee morning to raise funds for people affected by cancer. During that time, M&S has raised nearly £10 million for the charity, helping fund vital Macmillan professionals in local communities across the UK.
