Donate unwanted winter coats
Do your bit to help the homeless this winter and clear out your coat closet. Village Hotel Club is asking its staff and customers to donate any unwanted winter cover-ups to help the homeless. The community and local businesses can also drop off donations at its Bournemouth site, opposite the hospital.
The chain has set itself a target of collecting 1000 coats throughout October and November, so they have enough to hand out throughout the coldest months of the year. Bearing in mind we have seen snow over the past two winters, the significance of this charity drive cannot be underestimated.
Every coat collected nationwide will be distributed to the homeless via seven key homeless charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
The coat drive forms part of Village Hotel Club’s wider Village Green initiative, which will see the hotel group commit more than 30,000 hours each year to volunteering in the local communities of its 30 hotels, as well as fundraising for local causes. In addition to the coat collection, a team of Village Hotel Club staff will be taking part in the ‘Big Sleep Out’ in Derby with Doorways Derby on October 26th, to help raise awareness of Britain’s growing homelessness problem.
The Village Hotel Bournemouth is accepting coat donations now. If you would like any further information please contact Amy Spreadbury, Director of Sales on 01202 055205. The campaign was launched on National Homeless Day, and homelessness is evident everywhere in Bournemouth all year round. So dig out your parkas, fleeces, waterproofs and anything you can find.
