Prepare yourself – Bournemouth is set to be invaded this summer by stags and hens! And The Stag Company predicts that not only will Bournemouth be the top choice for 2017 bookings, they believe as much as £19.5million was spent over the weekend as best men and bridesmaids everywhere received their first pay cheque of the year.

Dubbed ‘Stag Friday’, the last weekend in January is the single biggest day of the year for stag do bookings, thanks to the fact one in three proposals happen over winter and the arrival of January pay day. 20% of all stag bookings take place in January with total spending on stag dos estimated to hit £750million this year.

Stag Company CEO Rob Hill said: “If last year’s trends are anything to go by, Stag Friday will be the single biggest day of the year for bookings as January’s pay arrives and stags set their plans into action.”

“Around a third of marriage proposals happen in the run up to Christmas, and a fifth of stag dos are booked in January so it is a critical month for the hundreds of business and livelihoods supported by the stag industry.”

Dan Chillingworth, Managing Director of stag activity provider, Xtreme Events, based in Huntingdon added: “January is always the busiest time for spring & summer bookings and sets the tone for the year ahead.”
