Bournemouth one of Britain’s most sought-after staycation towns

Criteo, the online advertising ecosystem, has revealed the top 10 most searched UK holiday destinations  – and Bournemouth comes in at number six.

While we can’t possibly agree that London is a better place to visit than Bournemouth, when you compare the city’s sizes, our seaside town is clearly punching above it’s weight due to our beautiful beaches, gorgeous gardens and amazing independent businesses.

And even with summer drawing to a close, our guide for the Huffington Post recommends places to explore in the winter.

This article on the Urban Travel blog outlines the best places for hipsters.

And this piece for Culture Trip details museums, parks and gardens beyond the beach.

Earlier this year, Bournemouth won Britain’s Best Seaside Resort, too.

Bournemouth and nearby Poole offers 10 miles of soft golden sand and the two resorts
have come together in 2018 to form a destination powerhouse. Featuring eight Blue Flag beaches, Europe’s largest natural harbour and known as the ‘coast with the most’, this stretch of the South Coast attracts outdoorsy adventurers and thrill seekers looking to surf, sail and cycle.

With the next phase of a re-landscaping project nearing completion, more than 6million people are expected to flock to Bournemouth’s world class seafront in 2018. The town offers everything you’d expect from a traditional seaside holiday – from beach huts and land trains to family attractions and arcade amusements – as well as new builds and creative industries that place Bournemouth firmly as a leader in modern British resort development.

Cities ranked according to % of total searches for staycations in summer 2018:

London 14.9%

Blackpool 6.7%

Liverpool 3.7%

Manchester 3.6%

Edinburgh 3.6%

Bournemouth 3.3%

York 2.4%

Birmingham 2.1%

Glasgow 2.0%

Newcastle upon Tyne 1.5%
