Review: Bermondsey Square Hotel, London
Set the scene: It’s well worth taking a trip to Bermondsey to find this highly individual hotel. So many London boutiques claim that they are ‘bespoke’ – the Bermondsey Square Hotel not only has the quirky decor but also the personalised service to live up to that label.
A bite to eat: The all-day menu is perfect for a quick bite to eat before heading into town. I recommend the mozzarella, tomato and pesto baguette, which comes with a fresh side salad. Or, for a more substantial meal, try the fish and chips, steak or Angus beef burger. It’s all about the English classics.
Something to drink? The food was quite rich so I kept it simple drink wise with a classic Pinot Grigio Di Pavia, £5.50. At breakfast, apple and ginger juice from Ringdom Farm was a great stomach settler.
You’ll like this if… You want your hotel meal to be memorable. the restaurant is also ideal for meeting friends just outside of the city. It’s only 20 minutes from Waterloo if you are coming up from Bournemouth and the fun menu provides a real talking point, and will make your meeting memorable. By day, head to the London Eye, Shakespeare’s Globe and TATE Modern, all reachable by bus (screw the tube).
Do me a deal: Deluxe double rooms (pictured) on a weekend are available from £129 on Laterooms.com currently – use this link for a topcashback bonus, too. Perfect for a capital adventure.
