New vegan ideas at Waitrose

Got vegan guests this Christmas? Keep things simple but sexy with Waitrose’s new plant-based delights, that also suit vegetarians and anyone with a love of healthy, hearty new ideas.

There will also be three new colourful ready meals: Vegetable Noodle LaksaGoan Vegetable Curry and a Roasted Butternut Squash & Vegetable Bowl. Grab one of each to give your veggie guests a choice – there is something for all palates, even those craving something spicy.

Mushroom & Roasted Garlic Ravioli would be perfect for lazy holiday comfort food.

Missing your bacon sandwiches on Boxing Day mornings? Try ‘Facon’, the supermarket’s first own label alternative.  With demand for top quality vegan products ever-increasing, it’s also worth adding to your December shopping lists for the annual veganuary veg-fest. The Facon is cured in maple syrup for a hint of sweetness.

Simona Cohen-Vida, Vegan Product Developer at Waitrose & Partners said: “Making delicious, innovative and great quality vegan products is a huge part of what we do. Our vegan bacon strips have been carefully smoked to get a deep rich flavour and the spices used with the seitan makes them perfect for frying. Try them in a sandwich with lashings of tomato sauce or pop them on top of your favourite vegan burger for the ultimate Friday night feast.”

Fact file

The supermarket says that sales for the overall vegan category are up 35% compared to last year and specifically searches for vegan bacon on have seen a 94% increase.
