Treat yourself to a laid back lunch at Chewton Glen

As we all reconnect with friends and family, a luxurious lunch doesn’t have to be expensive. Potentially our favourite hotel in the region, Chewton Glen uses seasonal ingredients (grown on site) to add a twist on family favourites or create a real romantic atmosphere.

Of course, nature never sleeps and the tireless team have maintained the excellent kitchen garden and are ready to welcome back residents and locals to enjoy a hearty meal.

Executive Head Chef, Luke Matthews, along with his talented brigade of chefs, have created a range of new seasonal dishes, using only the freshest locally produced ingredients from the typically English to the totally cosmopolitan.

In The Dining Room, Head Chef, Simon Addisons’ lunch menu is refreshingly flexible, both on the palette and the pocket. With social distancing rules being closely adhered to at all times, lunch can be enjoyed al fresco on the spacious restaurant terrace, or in the light and airy surroundings of The Dining Room. Guests can select from an array of starters including Carlingford Lough oysters, Chesil Smokery oak-smoked salmon and Isle of Wight tomato panzanella, as well as dipping into a fabulous selection of healthy bowl salads.

For their main course, lunch guests may decide on a Thai lobster curry or Conchiglie pasta, grilled Dover Sole, or a tender steak served on the bone, accompanied by a heavenly Béarnaise sauce. The menu offers an array of options, suited not only to a light and healthy lunch with friends, but to a long lazy lunch celebration with loved ones after months spent apart. To finish off the afternoon, guests can take their pick from an array of decadent desserts and perfectly paired wines, including caramelised lemon tart, Beaulieu strawberry Eton Mess, or an indulgent Valrhona chocolate fondant served with pistachio ice cream, adding the final flourish to lunch in The Dining Room at Chewton Glen.

If this wasn’t exciting enough, laid-back lunch at Chewton Glen just got even better, with a visit to The Kitchen, the hotel’s informal restaurant created in collaboration with our good friend and celebrity chef, James Martin. Martin has worked with The Kitchen’s Head Chef, Adam Hart, and the team to launch an exciting new menu, which plays homage to our coastal location with a fish and shellfish selection including a gorgeous fruits de mer sharing platter, whole or half lobsters, daily catch of the day, pan-fried halibut and clams, and grilled scallops. The menu also includes wood-fired pizzas, homemade pasta and salads, sirloin steak, Wagyu beef burger and naturally, to finish, the ‘Knickerbocker Glory’ – a firm favourite of ours from the James Martin pudding collection.
