Three things to do this week

Thanks again to Sainsburys for these top Christmas tips.

If you’re super-organised, by now you’ll have:

  • Updated your Christmas card list
  • Finalised guests for Christmas lunch
  • Written a list of who to buy presents for
  • Set yourself a gift budget
  • Kept your eyes peeled for gifts

If not, catch up with last week’s tips here.

1. Make the Christmas pudding

Did you know that Sunday 30th November is Stir-Up Sunday? Traditionally, families gather on the last Sunday before Advent to make the Christmas pudding. Each family member gets to stir the mix and make a wish. Christmas pudding can keep for months, so if you don’t feel inclined to get your hands dirty, pick up your pud in Sainsbury’s now.

Try our recipe for Classic Christmas Pudding.

2. Take stock of your decorations

No one wants to be disappointed by a blown tree light a couple of weeks before Christmas. Dig out your decorations now and take a note of anything that’s a little old and could do with refreshing. Next time you’re out doing a shop, you’ll know exactly what you need to pick up.

3. Check the contents of your kitchen cupboards

Now is a good time to take stock of all your crockery, glassware and cutlery, as well as saucepans and baking trays. Consider all the different dishes you’ll be serving on the day, what you’ll need to prepare and serve them.

Any time leftover? Check out this blog for DIY Christmas decorations and make your home into a winter wonderland.
