Love Pork: new ideas for summer dinners

You may not think of picking up pork steaks or sausages in your weekly shop. But I recently picked up four for just £2 and they are so versatile. In a salad, in the slow cooker, with carmelised apples or roasted summer vegetables… there are many more options than just your traditional Sunday roast.

If you are feeding a family, the XXL steaks from Aldi are just £4.49 and go on sale on Thursday. It’s part of their mighty meats range, also ideal for BBQs throughout the summer.

Read on for a pork recipe from Love Pork, which promotes British brands.

Experiment with other meats to keep mealtime interesting. Salmon Fillets are the perfect combination of fresh and flaky, perfect for grilling on the barbecue then served with squirt of lemon juice and cracked black pepper.

Sink your teeth into the brand-new Minted Lamb Shank (400g), on sale for just £3.29. Succulent, tender and oozing with refreshing, minty flavours, this is the perfect main for a real meat-lover. Serve with garlic and herb potatoes and fresh vegetables for a hearty summer dish.

Or, for something a little bit different, treat yourself to Aldi’s Chinese Pork Pancakes (£2.69, 400g), complete with succulent meat, Chinese pancake wraps and fragrant hoisin sauce to drizzle on top. This is the perfect dish to satisfy both your savoury and sweet tooth in one!

But that’s not all. Also in store from Thursday 9th July, you’ll be able to find:

  • Richmond Sausages (£2.49, 16 pack)
  • Mini Chicken Kievs (£2.49, 310g)
  • RSC Pork Fajita Strips (£2.99, 475g)
  • British Wagyu Burgers (£2.99, 340g)

But back to pork! Here is the ideal recipe for this weekend or to make any midweek meal special.
